What are the benefits of the agreement for Maine Biotechnology Services, Colorado State University, and Researchers? |
| |
| |
The foundation of the agreement between Maine Biotechnology Services (MBS) and Colorado State University (CSU) is MBS’s desire to expand their antibody catalog by tapping into the world class biological research at CSU. For CSU the agreement presents an opportunity to generate revenue for the university as a whole and for academic departments from sales of antibody. For CSU researchers with antigens that are selected for development, the agreement has several benefits: |
| |
| |
• |
Free hybridoma development |
| |
• |
Up to 100 mg of purified antibody from the hybridoma pilot production at no cost for research uses |
| |
• |
Royalties from the commercial sale of antibody |
| |

Who is eligible to submit antigens to MBS? |
| |
| |
Any researcher with access to antigens can complete the application. The contact person should be able to provide the information on the application and answer any additional questions that MBS may have about the antigen. |

What information should the antigen description include? |
| |
| |
This initial application only requires a broad description, such as: |
| |
| |
• |
What type of molecule is the antigen? (protein, lipid, etc.) |
| |
• |
What is the source of the antigen? (Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Dengue virus, etc.) |
| |
| |
If an antigen is selected for development, then the researcher will be given a more detailed questionnaire. The “Hybridoma Project Initiation Checklist” would only need to be completed as development proceeds. |

Is MBS interested in antibodies that are already developed? |
| |
| |
Yes. Simply put MBS is interested in antigens for new antibody development AND antibodies developed at CSU. If the antibodies are already developed then MBS is interested in learning more about them to consider licensing. |

How much antigen is needed to submit an application? |
| |
| |
A minimum of 2 mgs is required. |

What do I do with my application(s) once they are complete? |
| |
| |
You can submit them to Rodman Tompkins at MicroRx. Email the completed application and we will make sure they get to the appropriate person at Maine Biotechnology Services, Inc. |
